Kurt grew up in Cary, IL and first got bit by the aviation bug at a very young age. His house was under an O’Hare flight path and he was fascinated with watching the big jets fly over. Kurt’s first ride in a small airplane was actually at a Young Eagles Rally at 1ØC with Larry Schubert in his Piper Cherokee. As a freshman, he attended an aviation camp in Arizona where he got to take the controls of an airplane for the very first time and fly over the Grand Canyon, further solidifying his love of aviation. A couple of years later he started full time flight lessons. He earned his Private pilot’s license at Lake in the Hills Airport before going to Western Michigan University where he double majored in Aviation Flight Science and Aviation Management and Operations. Kurt earned his CFI and CFII, and instructed at WMU before joining us here at JB Aviation. He plans to continue his flying career at a regional airline; in fact, he is already a SkyWest cadet. Kurt’s other hobbies include hockey, which he’s played since he was seven years old, mountain biking, and skiing.

We’re glad to have him instructing here and if you see him at the airport make sure to say hi.

Welcome to the family, Kurt!…
