2020 Ray Aviation Scholar getting ready for checkride!

In June 2020, EAA HQ approved a $10,000 Ray Aviation flight training scholarship for Michael Karm, a McHenry West High School senior. As a chapter host of the Ray Aviation Scholarship program , EAA chapter 932 is tasked with mentoring student pilots in an effort to support completion of the initial private pilots certificate. Since receiving the scholarship, Michael has been achieving his flying milestones. Michael has exemplified the characteristics necessary to succeed during flight training and has continued to meet the scholarship requirements, even during these unpredictable times. The EAA in partnership with the Lightspeed Aviation Foundation awarded Michael with a Zulu 3 headset upon his successful completion of  the FAA written exam and a cross country flight. Ron Friend, an EAA 932 Scholarship committee member and JB Aviation’s certified ground school instructor, presented a Lightspeed Zulu 3 headset to Michael last week.  From earning a nearly perfect score on his FAA written exam to managing to fly through the challenging winter months, Michael has recently completed his long cross country and night flights and, according to his flight instructor, Beth Rehm, is ready to prepare for his checkride!  We are so excited and are rooting for him!
