EAA Chapter 932 has the first fly-out of the year to the  Flight Deck Grill at Rochelle Airport (KRPJ) – Rochelle, IL on April 17th .  Chapter member, Eric Rehm, organized this fly-out and has taken the lead scheduling some cool fly outs during the summer months.

Many of you have made it known that you would like to have an excuse to get out and fly more as a chapter.  This first flyout was a huge success!  We had 17 chapter members in 9 airplanes partake.  A very diverse array of aircraft participated.  Two Piper Cherokees, 2 Cessna 172’s, 1 Piper Cub, 1 Vans RV10, 1 Maule M5, a Bushcat , and finally a twin Cessna 310, all flew out.  Our Galt fleet filled the ramp down at Rochelle, IL. The Flight Deck Grill restaurant seated us at their “runway” table in the middle of the restaurant.  The food was great, and fellowship among chapter members was very enjoyable.  Based on this turnout and interest, the scheduled flyouts this summer should be pretty fun.  Check out the events link to find other upcoming fly-out plans!

Rochelle Airport is the home of Chicago Sky Dive Center and the Flight Deck Grill.

The Flight Deck open Wednesday to Sunday 11 am to 9 pm; 9 am to 2 pm on Sundays ; CLOSED MONDAY and TUESDAY during winter – this is a really cool place to check out – the Chicago Skydive Center (CSC) is located adjacent to the restaurant.  When the weather is nice, there is outdoor seating on a patio.  On weekends, the Chicago Skydive Center is brimming with activity, and people can sit back and enjoy watching all the skydiving action.  They have a sand volleyball court, and a bonfire pit for everyone to enjoy.  A must-fly-to destination with excellent food.
